Easy Way To Add Dividers To Finder Sidebar
January 27th, 2011The Finder sidebar is customizable up to a point. If you add things to it manually, you’ll wind up with a long list of items that is hard to scan. Add these easy dividers and you’ll find the sidebar becomes a lot more useful.

The idea is simple, make empty folders that act as dividers between the items you want to organize in the sidebar. I choose to surround the labels with hyphens to add a sort of border, but that’s up to you. I then replace the standard Finder folder icon with a screenshot of the sidebar background color.
