Oh how this has made my life easier! Ever wanted to be able to render in the background but still use After Effects? This handy script makes it possible. Check out aescripts.com and grab the javascript – be sure to check out some of the other useful scripts here. They have a handy screencast on how to install it. I’ve found it useful to enable mutliprocessing in background rendering, and disable it when rendering within AE. Also, definitely crank down the memory usage setting to 10 or 20 percent.
